Prairie Rubber & Stone – Regina, SK
How Much Does Rubber Paving Cost in Regina?
If you have a cracked, worn out concrete driveway and you have been looking into rubber paving, the first question you probably have is: what is this actually going to cost me? It is a fair question. Here is a straightforward breakdown of what goes into rubber paving pricing in Saskatchewan.
Rubber Paving Pricing in Regina
Rubber paving is priced per square foot. The type of rubber and the binder used are the two biggest factors in your final cost.
Price Ranges – Prairie Rubber & Stone
Note: Pricing above reflects residential projects. Commercial applications are quoted separately based on scope, access, surface conditions, and volume. Contact us directly for commercial pricing.
To put that in perspective, a typical Regina residential driveway runs between 400 and 600 square feet. At $8 per square foot for black rubber, that puts a standard driveway in the $3,200 to $4,800 range before any prep work. Every job is different so we always provide a free on-site estimate before any work begins.
Black Rubber vs EPDM Colour – What is the Difference?
Black Rubber Paving
Our black rubber is made from 100% recycled rubber tires. It is the most durable, most eco-friendly option we offer and it starts at $8 per square foot. The recycled rubber flexes through Saskatchewan’s brutal freeze-thaw cycles, is slip-resistant, and looks sharp on any property. If you want the best value, black is the way to go.
EPDM Coloured Rubber Paving
EPDM stands for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, a synthetic rubber that opens up a range of colour options beyond black. Our most popular option is a blend of up to 20% EPDM colour mixed into the rubber. It adds genuine visual impact, gives your driveway or patio real personality, and at just $1.25 per square foot more than black it is an upgrade most homeowners are glad they went with. This is what we install most often and the results speak for themselves.
Aromatic vs Aliphatic Binder
The binder is the glue that holds your rubber paving together and the type used affects both cost and appearance. The aromatic binder is industry standard and what we use on black rubber and lower colour EPDM jobs. It is durable and cost effective, but in lighter colours it can cause a temporary yellowing effect during curing that burns off over 2 to 3 months with sunlight and traffic. This is a normal chemical reaction, not a defect.
For higher colour EPDM applications, we offer the aliphatic binder, a premium UV-stable option that eliminates the yellowing entirely. Colours come out true from day one. It is worth considering for lighter greys, tans, or more vibrant colour choices where you want the finished look to be exactly right from day one.
What Affects Your Final Price?
Surface Preparation and Drainage
Rubber paving is a porous material, which means water filters down through the surface rather than pooling on top. That is great for drainage but it also means what is underneath still matters. Cracks, low spots, and drainage issues in your existing concrete need to be addressed before rubber goes on top, otherwise you are just covering the problem. Rubber also bonds to your concrete using epoxy, so the surface needs to be in good enough shape to give that bond a proper grip. We assess all of this on every job and include any required prep work in your estimate upfront.
Type of Application
Rubber paving works on a wide range of surfaces beyond just driveways. Different applications have different complexities and minimum material requirements that factor into the price.
- Driveways: the most common application and often the best value per square foot at larger sizes
- Patios: a great way to refresh an outdoor living space without replacing concrete
- Walkways and pathways: narrower runs take more time relative to area
- Stairs and steps: more detail work and edge finishing involved
- Pool decks: slip resistance makes rubber paving an excellent choice here
- Garage floors: durable and easy to maintain
- Commercial ramps and entrances: we do commercial work across Saskatchewan
What About Maintenance? The Truth Other Companies Skip
No surface is truly maintenance free and rubber paving is no exception.
Rubber paving holds up very well through Saskatchewan winters and requires very little day to day upkeep. But like any outdoor surface, it is exposed to UV light, temperature swings, vehicle traffic, and time. We recommend resealing your rubber surface every 5 years to protect the binder, maintain the colour, and extend the life of your investment significantly.
Resealing is a fraction of the cost of a new installation and it is something most companies never mention when they sell you the job. We bring it up because we would rather you know what you are getting into and have a surface that lasts decades than find out years later that a simple reseal could have prevented deterioration.
How Does Rubber Paving Compare to Other Options?
- Full concrete replacement: expensive, disruptive, and concrete and Saskatchewan winters are not a great long term combination
- Asphalt: lower cost upfront but requires regular sealing and does not flex as well through freeze-thaw cycles
- Rubber paving: goes directly over existing concrete with no demolition, walk-on ready in 24 hours, flexes through freeze-thaw and slip-resistant

- Surface assessment and prep recommendation
- Full rubber paving installation
- 5-year workmanship warranty on every job
- Walk-on ready within 24 hours
